This hammer is heavy and made of top quality brass. The hammer is well balanced for ease of tuning.Brass being an alloy provides greater strength to the hammer. The hammer weighs about 500 to 750 gms depending upon the casting. The hammer is coated with steel. 

The hammer has a flat head which can be used to push down the gattas and a pointed end with helps to pull up the gattas or to hold the vadi or gajras when tuning is underway.
