The Ghatam ring is the base ring that is used for the ghatam to sit properly. It provides a sturdy base for the player and also renders stability to the ghatam. The ghatam rings are made out of straw and covered with cotton fabric. The rings can hold upto 7 kgs of weight consistently without collapsing. The rings have a circular lace covering the ring.
